Local Dog, Owner Reunited

Missing Madison found by a resident Sunday night.

An odd sequences of events led a pet owner to be reunited with his missing dog on Monday.

Through the wonders of CraigsList, the and Roxborough-Manayunk Patch, Ryan Hand and his half husky, half border collie, Madison, were rejoined.

Late Sunday night, Hand noticed Madison was missing. He drove around Roxborough and Manayunk, fruitlessly searching for his dog.

As I walked to see some friends play at the East End Tavern's open mic night, Hand stopped me on Manayunk Avenue, asking if I had seen Madison. He said she was a black-and-white dog with a pink collar.

Unfortunately, I hadn't.

About an hour later, I bumped into Hand again. He apparently knew one of my musician friends, Pat Dougherty. The three-hour search for Madison hadn't resulted in any luck.

My regional editor, Lucy Bennett, emailed me Monday morning with some local lost-and-founds posted on CraigsList. One of the posts included info on a found black dog with a Pink Phillies collar. Could it be the same dog?

Dougherty gave me Hand's contact info, and I reached out to him with the find. It proved successful.

"Madison was fine. A girl named Emily found her. She had a dog herself. She ended up taking Madison to the vet... and posted the info on CraigsList," Hand said.

Hand had found his dog.
