Former Two By Four Shop Owner Dies

The former owner of several Two By Four shops died last week.

Nancy Lipton, 81Nancy Gordon Lipton 81, of Penn Valley, PA, a pioneer in women-owned small business in Philadelphia and owner of Two By Four Antiques and Collectibles, died Saturday January 11th from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Nancy opened her first Two By Four shop in Merion, PA in 1966, the name referencing the tiny 2' x 4' size of the first shop. After one year, the store expanded to a new location near Hymie's Delicatessen and the following year moved to a larger location on Montgomery Avenue, where she stayed for 15 years.
