A father, grandfather, veteran and accomplished engineer died Nov. 26, according to his obituary. John August Segletes, who grew up in Manayunk, died at the age of 82.
Legacy.com said Segletes had a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer, working on NASA projects related to Discover XIII recovery vehicle, Viking Mars and precursors to the Space Shuttle.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, and their children, John, Audrey, Steven, Thomas and Lori; in addition to nine grandchildren.
