Commonwealth Court just handed down a decision in the fight about saving a historic church at Ridge & Spring Garden.
The Philadelphia Historical Commission allowed the demolition.
That was appealed to the Board of L&I Review which denied the demolition.
That was appealed to the Common Pleas Court. The property was sold.
The Common Pleas Court allowed the demolition.
That was approved to the state Commonwealth Court.
The Commonwealth Court threw everyone a curveball, and decided that the appeal process ended when the church was sold.
That appears to mean that the last valid decision was the Board of L&I Review's decision to deny the demolition.
Confusing, but it seems to be good news!
