$1 Million Bail Set for Alleged Child Lurer, DA Says

Leo Haley faces four child endangerment charges, DA says.

One day after Philadelphia Police arrested a former officer for allegedly attempting to lure a child into his car, the District Attorney's Office announced his bail.

Leo Haley, 72, was arraigned Nov. 8 and charged with unlawful restraint, terrorist threats, luring a child into a motor vehicle, and harassment, according to a news release from the District Attorney's Office. 

Bail was set at $1 million.

Officials alleged that Haley attempted to lure an 8-year-old girl into his vehicle Oct. 17 at 7000 Voigt Road in Roxborough. 

On that same day, children from Shawmont Elementary School and Green Woods Charter School in Manayunk also reported similar incidents. News outlets reported Thursday that officials were investigating any links to those reports.

The former police inspector and register sex offender has an address on the 4300 block of Lauriston St. in Roxborough. The District Attorney's Office said he is currently on probation following a child pornography conviction in Delaware County. 

Haley's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 27 at 1801 Vine St.
