Acme Manager Thwarts Meat, Shrimp Theft

A man attempts to steal more than $200 in items from the Acme on Ridge Avenue.

A man dropped his bag of assorted stolen meats after the Acme manager chased him through the parking lot in the 5900 block of Ridge Ave. on Nov. 8 at approximately 11:08 a.m., police said.

According to police, an Acme customer spotted a man loading meats, mouthwash, body wash and shrimp into a gym bag, police said.

The customer informed the store's general manager who then tried to approach the man, police said.

The man then tried to leave the store without paying for the merchandise by running through the parking lot, police said.

The manager chased after him, and eventually the man dropped his bag and continued running, police said.  The man was last seen running eastbound on Gerhard Street.

Police valued the recovered stolen items at $227.34.
