Andorra McDonald's Also Robbed at Gunpoint, Police Say

Nearby fast food restaurant robbed a week before Friendly's did.

Less than a week before an Andorra Friendly's was robbed at gunpoint, a nearby McDonald's was also held up, police records indicate.

Philadelphia Police say the McDonald's at 8500 Henry Ave. experienced a robbery Nov. 4 at midnight, losing about $1,800 in cash. This came six days before a similar incident down the road at the Friendly's, 9164 Ridge Ave.

Restaurant employees told police that an unknown male entered the building through an unlocked back door. Pointing a black revolver at the employee and another man, the robber demanded that they open the office safe.

Police said the men complied, and the robber left the McDonald's on foot.

On Nov. 10, police similarly responded to the nearby Friendly's where a robber held the restaurant up and gunpoint.

A detailed description of the McDonald's robbery was unavailable. No arrests have been reported in either incident.

Debbie, This is just one signal of a neighborhood in deterioration and there are many red flags out there to indicate that Roxborough/Manayunk/Wissahickon is most certainly not a family valued community. We used to rob our own now it looks like we are getting hit by outsiders.

Unfortunately, ALL areas *city and surburban) are subject to robberies, as it seems that theives would rather steal from others than work themselves. I used to live in Abington Township, and we had robberies of fast food establishments when I lived there. However, usually it was an insider involved in some manner. Thus, don't put down an area because of that negative activity. Roxborough and surrounds are still nice residential areas.

Yikes! All of Philly is good block, bad block - not neighborhoods anymore necessarily. Andorra/Rox/Falls/Yunk are all lovely areas in comparison to most of Philly.Don't go selling the house yet. Robberies are a recession trend, for sure.
