Ashes Cigars Announces Remodel Following Water Main Break

Manayunnk shop will close for renovations.

Almost all business returned to normal on Main Street that tied up Manayunk. All business, save one cigar shop and lounge.

announced on its Facebook page Tuesday that water damage from the busted water main will force it to renovate. It estimated that it would be midsummer before it reopened.

The entire message read:

"Good morning everybody. As I am sure all of you have noticed by now, the ruptured water main incident has forced Ashes to be closed the past week. After evaluating the internal damages, it has been determined that we will need to undergo some severe renovations, and the lounge will not be able to open back to the public until midsummer. We apologize for this inconvenience, and would love your continued support during this trying time. Feel free to give us a call or drop us a line, and in the meantime we will try to keep everyone actively updated for our Grand Reopening...sans water damage."

Message left at the shop were not immediately returned.

The Philadelphia Water Department of the Main Street break that streets for 11 hours. Only a small number of businesses were directly impacted, and nearly all of them reopened with minimal damage May 17. 

Crews continued to pound the pavement outside the cigar shop, located at 4453 Main St. Tuesday.
