announced on its Facebook page Tuesday that water damage from the busted water main will force it to renovate. It estimated that it would be midsummer before it reopened.
The entire message read:
"Good morning everybody. As I am sure all of you have noticed by now, the ruptured water main incident has forced Ashes to be closed the past week. After evaluating the internal damages, it has been determined that we will need to undergo some severe renovations, and the lounge will not be able to open back to the public until midsummer. We apologize for this inconvenience, and would love your continued support during this trying time. Feel free to give us a call or drop us a line, and in the meantime we will try to keep everyone actively updated for our Grand Reopening...sans water damage."
Message left at the shop were not immediately returned.
The Philadelphia Water Department of the Main Street break that streets for 11 hours. Only a small number of businesses were directly impacted, and nearly all of them reopened with minimal damage May 17.
