Attempted Bank Robbery on Ridge Ave, FBI Says

Authorities are reporting that the TD Bank at 5501 Ridge was robbed Thursday morning.

The following information has been provided by the Philadelphia branch of the FBI:

Philadelphia Police and FBI representatives are investigating an attempted bank robbery that took place in Roxborough Thursday morning.

According to a release from the Philadelphia branch of the FBI, an unknown man entered the TD Bank at 5501 Ridge Avenue at approximately 10:20 a.m. Thursday morning and presented a teller with a note demanding money.

It is unclear at this time if the unknown man left the bank with any money.

Authorities describe the man as being in his late 20s, approximately 5'10", goatee, and wearing a dark jacket and gloves at the time of the incident.

This robbery represents the second bank robbery in the Northwest in 2013. The Citizens Bank on Stenton Avenue in Mt. Airy was robbed on Jan 24.

Anyone with information should contact the Philadelphia Police Department or the FBI at 215-418-4000.

Don't blame the Patch. It's the police who don't give the descriptions. Everything's has to be so PC these days.

The photo of the perp is on CBS. He is a black male. Didn't an Editor from the past say that they do not publish the race if it is unknown or not identified by police? In this case, it is known but they chose not to post it. Very informative.

It doesn't matter what color the culprit is. A criminal is a criminal and the community should be disclosed a full description no matter if the person is white, black, brown or purple! The officials trying to be "PC" is ridiculous. They're the ones that make race an issue when it's a matter of public safety and awareness.

How can we help keep our neighborhood safe if we never see a photo of the perp? This is 2 blocks from my house and I can't help if I don't know who I'm looking for. Maybe Patch should consider posting the suspect's photo and not a picture of a police car.

I had a conversation with one of the managers at this branch who explained to me that she was "scared for her life and the lives of her employees" because of all the shady characters that frequent this TD location. She had been threatened with physical violence on two occasions from (white) degenerate Roxborough lifers; once b/c they were pissed that the bank was closed due to a fire alarm and on another occasion she was assaulted with a bottle as she was preparing to open the bank one morning. This is a tough woman too. She's lived in Philly all her life so not much phases her. And even she can't understand the violent, unprovoked aggression towards herself and her bank staff. TD and the PPD should be providing security and more frequent patrols for this branch and it's workers. I've seen a visible police/security presence at the TD on City Line and Andorra. Why not this location too?

Why don't we have the same level of security that the Andorra branch has? They have an off duty police officer on site and we should, too!
