Bike Race Assault Reported, Police Say

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Although Philadelphia Police , a related aggravated assault was reported the next day.

A male resident told June 4—the day after the Philadelphia International Cycling Championship—that he was assaulted on the 300 block of Roxborough Avenue during the June 3 event.

The man and a witness said he was punched several times by another man with his hands and feet. At Roxborough Memorial Hospital, the man was treated for a broken nose and bruising under his eyes.

He provided police with a description. Philadelphia Police disclosed the report in weekly part one sheets provided to Patch.

Roxborough Car Break-in Thwarted

Philadelphia Police arrested two people June 5 for breaking into a Hill Road vehicle.

A resident from the 7300 block of Hill Road noticed two people had forced open the driver's side door of her 1996 red Chevy truck. She caught them in the act, and called police.

After police arrived, they arrested the two and transported them to the Northwest Detective Division. Police did not release names or descriptions.

Bow and Arrow Target Stanley Steemer

An unknown male threw a rock and fired an arrow at a Stanley Steemer truck on 4600 Flatrock Road in Manayunk.

Two employees told police a shirtless man with long blond hair wearing tan shorts and black boots threw a rock that cracked the windshield of an orange 2005 Ford work van June 7 at 3:55 p.m.

After they stopped the van, the man shot a 36-inch arrow with a long fishing line attached to it at the van. It struck the van below the gas tank.

Police arrived on scene, and were able to use surveillance video from Manayunk Self-Storage to identify the shooter. However, no arrests were reported.

In addition, no one was injured.
