Police Warn Bars of Manayunk Purse Snatcher

Philadelphia Police issue crime alert on string of recent thefts from bars.

Philadelphia Police are pursuing a purse-snatcher who recently hit at least three, if not more, Manayunk bars.

In a crime alert released by 5th District Police, police said over the past two weeks women reported their purses stolen or wallets four times from bars on or along Main Street. Police believe one perpetrator is responsible for at least three thefts.

Police say the female perpetrator, who is white, is 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 100 to 105 pounds and has a piercing below her bottom lip. She often wears a black coat with gray sweatpants and an orange, Flyers T-shirt.

Usually, police said she enters a bar and takes items off the back of chairs, barstools or tables. She then flees.

On one occasion, police said she left on foot and entered a black Nissan Altima to escape.

Three thefts of purses or wallets occurred at Kildare's, Mad River, and the Manayunk Tavern, according to police reports.
