Fire On Ridge Causes Destruction and Delays

Rush-hour traffic is snarled in the area of the Andorra Shopping Center due to an early-morning fire at the Market Square Shopping Center, 8919 Ridge Avenue.

The two-alarm fire was reported around 3:28 a.m., Philadelphia Police said, adding that by approximately 4:45 a.m. 80 percent of the businesses in the shopping center were contained, three were totally destroyed and one was partially destroyed.

As of 8:30 a.m.police said they were unsure which three businesses had been completely destroyed and added that, according to their reports, a fireman had been taken to the hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries. 

The roads, the officer continued, are still closed in the area of the fire and she was unsure how long they would remain closed.
