In one June week, police responded to three reports of golf clubs being stolen from cars on Houghton, DuPont, and Roxborough streets. Two of the three incidents resulted in arrests.

Overnight June 12, a resident on 4200 Houghton St. reported golf clubs stolen from the hatchback area of his black 2008 Toyota 4-Runner. Police said there was no sign of forced entry. He said 11 Calloway X20 clubs were taken.

Later, the resident came upon a CraigsList ad detailing what he believed were his clubs. A resident from the 400 block of Lyceum Ave. was selling them. He successfully identified his putter, and police arrested the man. His name was not disclosed.

Another resident on 100 DuPont St. was even more successful in recovering his clubs. On June 13, a plain clothes officer noticed a man carrying golf clubs down Leverington Avenue in close proximity to a car that was rifled through.

Police questioned the man, who said a resident from Ripka Street sold them to him.

The clubs belonged to a resident on DuPont Street, and police arrested the Ripka Street man for theft. No names were released.

However, a third resident, from 600 Roxborough Ave., was not as lucky. Overnight June 17, he told police someone broke into his 2002 black Honda Civic and stole a set of golf clubs in a zebra-striped bag with orange accents.

Police said they proceeded the scene without finding evidence.
