Four Juveniles Arrested for Attempted Gunpoint Robberies

Police say incidents occurred in Roxborough and Wissahickon.

Police arrested four juveniles in late July for allegedly attempting to rob two separate people at gunpoint.

The minors—three from Germantown, and one from West Philadelphia—were arrested July 24 for incidents at Ridge and Dearnley streets in Roxborough, and Righter and Salaignac streets in Wissahickon. The attempted robberies occurred about 2.5 miles from each other and one hour apart. Court records indicated the minors unlawfully used a car.

While walking in Roxborough at 9:30 p.m., a man was approached by the four young men, who shouted "Give me your phone," police said. He refused and one man pulled out a gun.

The man attempted to quickly walk away, but one of the minors punched him. The juveniles fled northbound on Ridge Avenue on foot.

Nothing was taken, and the man refused medical attention.

One hour later, in Wissahickon, a similar incident occurred, which police said involved the same minors. A man was walking south on Righter Street when the four minors approached him.

The man told police one of the young men pointed a black handgun in his face and said, "Give it up."

He ran away, and nothing was taken. The juveniles fled north on Righter Street.

Ten minutes later, police apprehended the minors at Henry and Kingsley streets. The man in the second incident identified the four as the people who attempted to rob him.

Two juveniles are 17 and two are 15.

According to court records, all four are being tried together for multiple counts of robbery, theft, unlawfully yielding a deadly weapon, and assault.

Bail was set at $150,000 and $100,000 for them of them. They remain in police custody. Their preliminary hearing is Oct. 18.
