Friday is Peace Day

There will be an event hosted by the Philadelphia Police Department's 5th District to celebrate Philly Peace Day on Sept. 20.

The 5th District of the Philadelphia Police Department will host an event at the Kendrick Recreation Center on Friday, Sept. 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. to celebrate Philly Peace Day.

Activities will include child fingerprinting, bike safety training and a gunlock giveaway.

According to the Philly Peace Day website: "Peace Day Philly is a grassroots initiative that promotes local participation in the United Nations International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”), a worldwide day observed annually on September 20. The Peace Day Philly initiative welcomes organizations, neighborhoods, community groups, schools, law enforcement, civic leaders and individuals to participate in this global day by creating and participating in peace and non-violence activities on and around September 20 in the Philadelphia region."
