Hearing Delayed for Manayunk Man Accused of Murder

Gregory Mitros must wait until next week for his day in court.

An overbooked judge caused a hearing delay for a Markle Street facing third-degree murder charge for the June 2011 death of his wife.

Gregory Mitros, 52, is accused of murdering his wife Lynda Karlin-Mitros, 64, who was shot and killed at the couple's Markle Street home, as Patch previously reported. After more than year, Mitros—who is out on bail—was to stand for trial on Friday.

However, according to the District Attorney's Office, Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart was double-booked and unable to hold the initial hearing. Court records indicate an anticipated one-week trial, with Minehart presiding over the case with Michael Quinn defending Mitros and Assistant District Attorney Brian Zarallo representing the commonwealth.

Quinn has stated in court that Mitros never intended on shooting Karlin-Mitros. NewsWorks.org previously reported that Mitros saw his wife with the gun and tried to wrestle it from her.

According to court documents, the next hearing for Mitros is scheduled for Oct. 29 in the Court of Common Pleas.
