Main Street Reopens for Thursday Commute

Water department worked overnight getting street ready.

Main Street, in its entirety, reopened Thursday morning. After a water main broke late Wednesday afternoon, the Manayunk main drag and thoroughfare to I-76 shut down from Levering Street to Green Lane.

About 8 inches of water descended upon the street, leaving nine businesses taking on water. Main Street Music, Ashes Cigars, and Jameson's U.S. Hotel were handful of businesses impacted, as were the U.S. Post Office and Philadelphia Fire Department—Engine 12.

A majority of Main Street remained opened throughout Wednesday.
