Man Arrested for Breaking into Five Cars, Police Say

Police arrest a man after he allegedly breaks into five cars in two hours.

Police arrested a man they believe broke into five cars in the span of two hours on Nov. 26.

According to police, a witness saw the man break into a car parked in the 200 block of Wendover Street on Nov. 26 at 8:20 a.m. by smashing the passenger side front window of a blue Doge Charger

Police also received reports of break-ins in the 2100 block of Haines Way at 8 a.m., the 300 block of Shurs Lane at 8:15 a.m., the 400 block of Kingsley Street at 9:45 a.m. and the 300 block of Shurs Lane again at 10 a.m.

An officer on patrol stopped a man that matched the description provided by the witness near the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Kingsley Street.

Police said that the man was carrying a grey bag with a GPS hanging out of it, and that when the man saw the patrol car he dropped the bag and kicked it under some stairs.  

The officer arrested the man, and he was positively identified by the witness.  

Police also recovered a tire iron from the 200 block of Wendover Street.

The stolen items included one phone car charger, a gym bag, three iPhone car chargers and a radio.

Police said the total value of the stolen items was $810.
