Manayunk Man Arrested on Assault Charges—Courts

Police report assault at Cresson Street residence.

Philadelphia Police said they arrested a Manayunk man Aug. 27 on 3700 Cresson St. on assault and drug charges.

According to court records, Leo G. Peters, 61, is being charged on assault and drug charges stemming from an incident in his home.

Police said officers responded to Cresson Street at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 on reports of a person screaming. A female at the residence told police Peters "punched her in the face with an open hand causing her to black out," according to police records.

Additionally, employees from the Philadelphia Department of Streets told police they witnessed the assault.

After police arrested Peters, they recovered marijuana in his possession.

Peters was arraigned Aug. 28 and charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

He posted $1,500 bail and is due back in Philadelphia Municipal Court Sept. 27 for a preliminary hearing.
