One Resident's Account from Wissahickon Arrest

Anna Kirmes shares what she saw of the Wissahickon burglary arrest.

Wissahickon witnessed a busy scene Monday afternoon when police pursued and arrested a resident on foot for, police said, burglarizing residents on several streets. . 

Anna Kirmes was coming home around that time and found herself in the middle of a police chase. She shared her story with Patch:

"(Monday) when I was driving up Davis Street I noticed a dirt bike coming toward me going the wrong direction. Then I saw a cop running down Davis Street. I drove around to Kingsley Street, where I saw one of my neighbors
looking in a yard. When I asked what was going on, they told me that the police were chasing someone that had robbed a house. Suddenly, police cars were coming from every direction."

Kirmes came upon Philadelphia Police arresting Christopher Warnecki, 32, of Davis Street, on several burglary counts.

On Monday, police said Warnecki burglarized homes each on Davis Street, Markle Street and Shurs Lane. He previously took items from the same house on Davis Street and Kingsley Street, as well.

"When I spoke to my neighbor later, she told me that she called the police a few hours earlier because she saw the guy in a yards hiding stuff. It turned out to be the stuff that had been taking from at least three of the houses (I saw the homeowners identifying their belongings)," she wrote in an email.

Additionally, Kirmes said she saw two men in handcuffs. However, Philadelphia Police said they only arrested and processed Warnecki.
