Police Blotter: Two Assaults Reported on New Years' Day
The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th district police department. It does not indicate a conviction.
reported two separate New Year's Day aggravated assaults, which occurred within 30 minutes of each other.
A woman was arrested Jan. 1 for stabbing her boyfriend with a knife. The incident occurred after physical altercation at a home on 6700 Ridge Ave. at 2:56 a.m. He was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center. She was taken to Roxborough Memorial Hospital.
Earlier, at 2:35 a.m., police arrested a man for shooting another man after a verbal dispute at a home on 4500 Silverwood Ave. Police were able to apprehend the shooter and arrest him, while the other man sought medical attention.

Mugging on Shawmont Avenue
Three men held up a Roxborough man with a gun Dec. 28 on the 600 block of Shawmont Avenue. The man told police the men approached him at 10:15 p.m. while he was walking back to a friend's house.

One man pointed a gun at his stomach and told him to "empty your pockets." The man complied and handed over his wallet, containing $13, and a can of Arizona Ice Tea. The men fled on foot and were not located.
Man Jumped on Pensdale Street
A man told police that five men accosted and robbed him Jan. 1 on 100 Pensdale St. at 2:20 a.m. Police reported that the man appeared with facial injuries and a black eye and refused medical attention after the altercation, where he was physically beaten. The men reportedly took his cell phone, valued at $200.
Burglary
- Dec. 30: Two men driving a red Saturn robbed a home on 500 Paoli Ave. The resident told police they pried open the backdoor and took $14,000 worth of valuables, including a two TVs, watch, home stero system and a computer. She saw the Saturn pulling away, alerting her to the break-in.
- Jan. 4: A PlayStation 3, iPod Touch, four video games and cash valued at $700 were taken from a home on 300 Krams Ave. Entry was gained by breaking a rear kitchen window.
- Jan. 5: Three laptops worth $900 were taken from a home on 600 Cheswick Road, when assailants broke in through the back door. No arrests were made.
- Jan. 8: Two TVs, stereo equipment and an X-Box 360 worth $2,000 were taken from 4500 Baker St. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door.
Shoplifting:
- Dec. 28: A Philadelphia juvenile was arrested for stealing $154 in merchandise from the Kohls at 8500 Henry Ave.
- Jan. 5: Two unknown men took audio equipment worth $170 from the RadioShack at 8501 Henry Ave.
- Jan. 6: About $3,500 in cell phone equipment was taken from the AT&T Store at 8501 Henry Ave. The store employee told police three (possibly underage) men took the items and fled from the store.
- Jan. 7: Two men reportedly took $400 in automotive equipment from the Pep Boys at 9100 Ridge Ave. The men left the store without paying for items and fled in a blue Mercury or Crown Victoria with Pennsylvania wildlife license plate—but unknown tag number.
Thefts From Vehicles:
- Dec. 26: One pocketbook, eyeglasses and lip gloss were taken from 2005 black Ford Freestyle at 800 West Bells Mill Road worth $250. A window was broken.
- Dec. 27: One VISA credit card was taken through forcible entry from a 2010 gray Toyota Corolla at Valley Green Road.
- Dec. 27: Credit cards were taken from a white 2010 Dodge Caravan at West Bells Mill Road and Forbidden Drive.
- Dec. 29: An iPod and external hard drive were taken from a silver 2003 Toyota Camry worth $250 at 4300 Pechin St.
- Dec. 29: An off-duty office caught a Philadelphia entering cars at the Philadelphia Parking Authority lot at 4400 Manayunk Ave. He arrested the man and transported him to Northwest Detective Division.
- Dec. 30: A wallet containing credit cards, ID and $105 were taken from a gray 2009 Ford Escape at 100 Levering St.
- Jan. 3: One debit card was taken from a white 2001 Chevy Prizm at 500 Walnut Lane. An already broken window was the means of entry.
- Jan. 3: A pocketbook and credit cards worth $50 were taken from a 2011 gold Toyota by breaking a window at the Restaurant Depot, 5002 Ridge Ave.
- Jan. 3: A snowboard, snow boots, snow jacket, laptop and school books valued at $2,590 were taken from a white 1994 Mercedes Benz parked at 4500 Wilde St. The rear window was broken.
- Jan. 8: An iPod mini and cash (all totaling $250) were taken from a silver 2008 Toyota Camry at 400 DuPont St.
