are searching for a woman they say drove into several cars and fled the scene in Roxborough Wednesday evening, a spokesperson confirmed.
While operating a black sedan, a woman crashed into parked cars along the 300 block of Lyceum Avenue around 6 p.m. Aug. 29, Philadelphia Police spokesperson Officer Christine O'Brien confirmed to Patch.
A resident, who requested his name not be used, said the woman backed into his van while parallel parking. That collision jolted the van into another vehicle. She hit two other cars and crashed into an embankment, as well, according to The Roxborough Review. The woman attempted to drive away on Pechin Street, but the wheel fell off her vehicle, the resident said.
She left her car, grabbed a bag and changed shirts. She also took down her hair, removing it from a ponytail. The resident said she began running away, so he chased after her, yelling for neighbors to call the police.
He followed her to the Walnut Lane Bridge, where she disappeared near the Walnut Lane Golf Course, about 1 mile away.
While exiting the vehicle and in the ensuing chase, the woman, he said, appeared to be intoxicated.
"What she did is terrible. She needs to answer for her actions... She also needs help," he said.
O'Brien said police possessed photos of the woman involved and were attempting to locate her. No arrests were yet reported, she said.
The man said his van sustained damage, and that, although the other car was fine, its driver experienced shoulder pains.
