According to Philadelphia Police, a 74-year-old woman from the 4800 block of Ogle Street was attacked in her home Monday morning.
A man, described as a black male between 35 and 40, approximately 5'8" and wearing all black knocked on the woman's door just after 9:30 a.m. and asked to use her phone, police said, adding that he told her he was working at a home just down the street.
Once inside the man demanded money from the woman and when she said she didn't have any he began to choke her with his hands and then a dog leash and forced her upstairs.
The man ransacked her bedroom drawers and went through a number of other items in her room, police said, adding that he found a pellet gun in a box in her room, took the gun and fled.
The woman, was taken to Roxborough Hospital and treated for bruises to her face and neck and received 14 stitches inside her mouth, police said.
