Police: Ridge Ave., Main Street Assaults Reported

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two men were assaulted in late January in separate incidents on Ridge Avenue and Main Street, said. 

According to police reports, two men were arrested Jan. 24 for aggregated assault with a dangerous weapon in Roxborough. A man was walking on the 6000 block of Ridge Ave. at 1:30 p.m. when he encountered two other men.

The pair uttered a racial slur, police said, and began punching the other man. He sustained cuts and a bruises to his face, and required three stiches at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. A witness confirmed the incident to police, and said one man used brass knuckles.

The two were arrested and taken to Northwest Detective Division.

Later that week, on Jan. 28 at the 4100 block of Main Street, Manayunk, police arrested a man, charging him with aggregated assault by hands and feet.

At 1:30 a.m. a man told police he was punched and kicked in the face by another man. The alleged assaulted man sustained a deep cut over his left eye, which he received stiches for at Roxborough Memorial Hospital.

Police arrested the man, and took him to Northwest Detective Division.

Tough Day at Kohl's 

Police reported two separate retail thefts at Kohl's in Andorra, Jan. 28.

At 4:37 p.m., police arrested a man for stealing a gold necklace, valued at $486. Store security witnessed the incident, detained the alleged thief, and recovered the item.

Later, at 7:15 p.m., police arrested a woman for taking clothing, shoes and earrings valued at $197.98, without paying for it. Similar to the other incident, store security witnessed the theft. 

Police took both to Northwest Detective Division.

Other crimes:

  • A silver 1998 Honda Civic was taken from Fountain Street Auto Jan. 26. The car was owned by a customer and was removed from Ridge Avenue.
  • Twenty-eight cases of Red Bull were removed from a delivery truck, parked at the Ivy Ridge Shopping Center Jan. 27. They were valued at $1,344.
  • At Roxborough Memorial Hospital Jan. 25, police responded to a theft at 7:30 p.m. A man said his HP laptop and case, valued at $2,498, were taken from his locked office.
