Police: 'Roxborough Robber' Behind Bars

The man who allegedly robbed four banks in just over a week was arrested Sept. 9, police said.

The "Roxborough Robber", who allegedly within the span of a week late last month and earlier this month, is behind bars, according to Philadelphia Police.

"We knew he was going to strike again," Officer Charles Kline, of the , said at the Wissahickon Neighbors Civic Association Meeting. "We were just waiting."

And they didn't have to wait long. Just days after he moved across the river and allegedly robbed a bank on City Avenue in the 19th district he was back on the Ridge.

The accused, identified as Frank Roccia by Newsworks.org, was spotted at Citizens Bank on Ridge Avenue Sept. 9, Kline said, adding that the bank manager recognized him from photos and said he appeared nervous and fidgety.

The manager called 911 immediately after Roccia left, and he was apprehended in the area of Port Royal and Levering, Kline said. He was allegedly attempting to rob his fifth bank in nine days.

Although he's not from the area, Kline said his girlfriend is, which is why he might have been more familiar with the area.

Although calls to the FBI were not immediately returned, NewsWorks reported earlier Friday that he was arrested by the FBI and confessed to the four robberies. For its full report click here.
