Police: Three Early Jan. Aggravated Assaults Reported

responded to three aggravated assaults in Roxborough earlier this month, according to police reports.

At Roxborough High School, police arrested a male student Jan. 10 for allegedly punching another student. According to reports, the male entered a classroom and hit the other in the face, causing him to sustain cuts over his right eye. Police said the student, who was attacked, was taken by his parent to Einstein Hospital for treatment.

The other student was identified and arrested, and taken to Northwest Detective Division for processing.

Later that week, Jan. 12, a fight occurred outside Keenan's Valley View Inn, 468 Domino Lane. Police observed one man hit another with brass knuckles, causing severe cuts to his head and face. The man was arrested, treated for injuries and taken to Northwest Detective Division. Police recovered the brass knuckles.

The other man was transported to Roxborough Memorial Hospital.

On Jan. 15, a woman complained to police about an unusual incident. 

She contracted a cab driver to take her to Long Island, NY. Once they reached New Jersey, she told police the driver instead decided to return her to Philadelphia and required a $200 fare, which she agreed to.

He then drove her to the 5600 block of Ridge Avenue, pulled a silver handgun on her, told her to swipe her credit card and exit the car. She complied and reported the incident to Philadelphia Police.

Lodge Road Burglary

While on vacation, a Roxborough family experienced a burglary on the 300 block of Lodge Road. The homeowner told police she allowed her granddaughter to house sit. On Jan. 9, the granddaughter came home to find a trail of change in the house. She investigated and discovered all the jewelry (valued at $6,250) was missing. 

Police investigated and found no signs of forced entry.

Ridge Avenue Mugging

Two juvenile males were arrested Jan. 11 for allegedly robbing another juvenile on the 7900 block of Ridge Avenue. Police said the young man was punched, and the offenders took his black Northface vest, which was later recovered. The attacked man positively identified the two suspects, who were arrested and processed at Northwest Detective Division. The young man sustained a bruised face, police said.
