Update: Police Confirm Suicide Near Ivy Ridge Station

A man in his 40s hung himself near the station.

Philadelphia Police confirmed Friday that a man committed suicide near the Ivy Ridge Station.

According to police spokesperson Officer Jillian Russell, a man committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree on the corner of Umbria and Domino streets, near the train station Friday. He was in his 40s.

SEPTA originally reported Friday that service along the Manayunk/Norristown Regional Rail line was delayed due to police investigation near the Ivy Ridge Station. SEPTA spokesman Andrew Busch said police were conducting an investigation on a property adjacent to the station. An on-scene officer confirmed that it was related to the suicide.

Because the investigation is ongoing, Russell declined to provide any further information.

Editor's note: An earlier version misidentified the intersection. It has since been corrected.
