Pre-Trial Hearing Set For Manayunk Man Accused of Killing Wife

Gregory Mitros, 52, will appear in the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court on Sept. 20.

The middle-aged Manayunk man earlier this summer made a brief court appearance Aug. 23, during which a trial commissioner assigned him a pre-trial conference date.

In a minutes-long proceeding, Gregory Mitros, 52, formerly of the 100 block of Markle Street in Manayunk, was told he’d have to report back to Philadelphia Common Pleas Court on Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. in courtroom 1105 for the hearing, which court records indicate will be overseen by Common Pleas Court Judge Benjamin Lerner.

Mitros, who said very little, appeared in courtroom 1101 of the Criminal Justice Center.

He had waived his preliminary hearing on Aug. 2.

Philadelphia Police have said Mitros fatally shot his 64-year-old wife, Lynda Karlin-Mitros, at the home they shared on Markle Street.

Roxborough-Manayunk Patch previously reported that following his arrest, Mitros was evicted from his home and was sent to live with his sister, who had to rid the home of firearms prior to her brother’s arrival.

No motive has been given for the killing, and family and friends of Mitros’ previously called the incident a "tragic accident."

The details of what exactly happened that day earlier this summer are expected to come out at trial.
