Roxborough Man Charged With Homicide In Death of 3-Year-Old

Joseph Zysk, 27, allegedly caused multiple blunt impacts to toddler.

Philadelphia Police arrested Roxborough resident Joseph Zysk Saturday for allegedly beating a 3-year-old South Philadelphia child to death for crying. 

Zysk, 27, allegedly caused the child's death by inflicting multiple blunt wounds to the child's body, police spokesperson Officer Jillian Russell said Tuesday.

Police were dispatched to find an unresponsive child after 3 a.m. Jan. 15. The child, Jason Larkin, was discovered and taken to Roxborough Memorial Hospital. He died around 4 a.m.

Zysk was taken into custody at his home on the 4200 block of Houghton Street. He has been charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, Russell said.

The investigation determined the death to be a homicide Jan. 16.
