Roxborough Police Beat: Knife Fight Thwarted, Honda Stolen, Shopping Wrong at ShopRite

A list of incidents reported by Philadelphia Police in the 5th District.

An argument that escalated to knife involvement ended with a resident fleeing the scene of the fight, police said.

Two males were involved in a verbal dispute on the 100 block of Leverington Dec. 5, when one struck the other, kicked him when down and caused several scratches to his face. Next, the man brandished a knife and tried to stab the man down.

However, he fled when he learned the police had been called. The man was not found, and the attacked man refused medical treatment and further questioning.

Honda Accord gone

While parked overnight in a Shawmont Avenue lot, a Honda Accord was taken without the owner's permission. On Dec. 1, the female told police her 1992 white car was missing in addition to the car's GPS.

Though she said she recently purchased the car in Harrisburg, the tag transfer has not been completed. The total missing property was valued at $3,000.

Unwanted ShopRite shopping spree voided

Police arrested a female at ShopRite after she allegedly tried to take over $500 worth of cosmetics.

The assistant store manager called police Dec. 1 after detaining a woman who attempted to leave ShopRite without paying for various soaps, cosmetics and Team Logo armbands, all of which were recovered by the store.

Other crimes

Philadelphia 5th District Police reported 17 part-one offenses from Nov. 29 to Dec. 5, which also included:

  • A black Toshiba laptop was reported missing Nov. 27 from Couch Tomato Cafe in Manayunk. Though the restaurant has security cameras, they were not working at the time. The computer is valued at $500.
  • Police reported that nearly $800 in items was taken from a white 2000 Subaru Outback Dec. 1 on Cathedral Road. The owner said her passenger-side rear window was damaged, and a digital camera, pocketbook and various items were missing.
  • In an altercation outside Kildares in Manayunk, a man was head-butted Dec. 3. The man who was wounded told police he was pushed, then head-butted on Main Street. He was taken to Roxborough Memorial Hospital and received 10 stitches.
