Roxborough Wine & Spirits Robbed at Gunpoint, Police Say

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

An unknown man held up at gunpoint the Wine and Spirits Store at the Ivy Ridge Shopping Center earlier in June, said.

The store manager told police at 4:51 p.m. June 1 a man entered the 7146 Ridge Ave. liquor store. He pointed a silver, semiautomatic handgun at the cashiers and forced them to empty three registers.

Police said he took $1,074.13 and fled westbound on Domino Lane. He drove a white, Pontiac sedan.

No injuries were reported.

Two Domestic Abuses Reported

Philadelphia Police responded to two cases of domestic abuse reported at opposite ends of Roxborough, June 2.

A woman told police that at 6:45 p.m. on 5400 Hermit Terrace, her boyfriend woke up her, complaining that she didn't clean the bedroom.

He began to throw clothing, and the altercation became physical, she said. Police said the boyfriend then struck her on the arm with a metal pole.

Police arrived after he fled. The woman was transported to Einstein Hospital.

Earlier that day, police arrived at 8800 Ridge Ave. and arrested a husband on aggravated assault charges.

At 10:15 a.m., a wife told police she and her husband were involved in an argument. He then threw hot coffee and spit on her, police said. She retaliated by punching him, which police said he responded by pushing her into a wall that collapsed.

When police arrived, officers observed the woman had redness on her chest. The man, whose name was not released, was arrested and transported to Northwest Detective Division. He had scratches to his forehead, arms and neck.

Pool Cue Involved in Bar Fight

A man told Philadelphia Police he was attacked and beaten with a pool cue at DeLeo's Bar, 405 DuPont St. in Roxborough.

At 11 p.m. June 2, police said a man was beaten about the head, face and body with a pool stick, cutting his lip.

The one man fled. The other man was taken to Roxborough Memorial Hospital, where he received 22 stitches. The assailant was unknown other than by the nickname "Eli."
