Roxborough Woman Faces Charges in Evergreen Ave. Thefts

Twenty-three-year-old accused of stealing from five cars, court records say.

A Roxborough woman who was arrested in August for allegedly stealing from five Evergreen Avenue cars faces misdemeanor theft charges in Municipal Court next week, according court records.

Philadelphia Police said earlier this month that tips from residents help thwart a few different crimes, including five thefts from autos Aug. 30 on 400 Evergreen Ave.

Residents began calling that morning to report a male and female wondering around Evergreen and Shawmont Avenues.

In addition to five cars, the pair also attempted to break into a tool shed, police said.

Police arrived on scene and arrested a 23-year-old Roxborough woman. The man was not present.

In her possession were items taken from residents' vehicles, police said. The items—which totaled $700 in value—were returned to owners.

She was arrested and charged Aug. 31 for theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft from a motor vehicle.

The woman was released on bail and has an arraignment hearing scheduled for Oct. 1.
