Safe Stolen from Manayunk Wine and Spirits Store

Burglars cut the electricity to the alarm to steal a safe from a Manayunk Wine and Spirits Store.

Burglars stole a safe containing $15,000 in cash from the Manayunk Wine and Spirits Store on Jan. 2, police said.

Police were on patrol in the area of the 3700 block of Main Street when one officer noticed a broken door at the rear of the Wine and Spirits Store.

The officer entered the building and did a walk through determining that the store was empty.

Further investigation revealed that the electricity running to the security alarm may have been tampered with, and that a safe had been stolen from the main office.

There was no surveillance footage at the scene, and the investigation is on-going.
