Six Officers to Patrol Main Street Through the Winter

The foot patrols free up officers to deal with college parties.

Six police officers will continue to patrol Main Street in Manayunk on weekend nights from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. in an effort to step up enforcement.

A Sergeant from the 5th district told the Manayunk Neighborhood Council that the city has given the officers to the district through the winter.

“This frees up six of my tactical officers to handle college parties,” the Sergeant said.  “If I had my way, we would patrol Main Street the same way the city handles South Street.”

The Sergeant also said that if neighbors are having problems with a party house in their neighborhood they shouldn’t hesitate to call 911.

“Police will respond to those calls unless there’s another priority,” the sergeant said.  “If police have to come to a house a second time, the school is contacted as is the landlord.”
