Theft Still Seems to be Biggest Problem in 5th District

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th district police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft ... Between 5 p.m. June 25 and 10 a.m. June 27, a car parked in the 300 block of Hermit Street was entered and a navigation system, three pocket knives and several bullets were stolen, police said, adding that there were no signs of forced entry.

Theft ... A resident of the 100 block of Dupont Street contacted police June 27 at 1 p.m. after discovering that a $250 iPod touch was stolen while he was in the process of moving, police said, adding that the resident believes it was stolen by an employee of the moving company he had hired.

Aggravated assault ... A man contacted police June 26 at 9 p.m. to report that he had been involved in a verbal arguement at the Manayunk Brewery that had turned physical, police said, adding that the man told officers he was punched in the face and received several stiches at Roxborough Hospital.

Theft ... The maintenance manager for St. John the Baptist Church, 119 Rector Street, contacted police June 27 at 3 p.m. after discovering that 10 pieces of a cast-iron fence had been stolen between 3 p.m. June 27 and 6:15 a.m. June 28, police said, adding that the pieces were stolen from the outside of the church where construction was taking place.

Theft ... A car parked in the 200 block of Rector Street was entered between 9 p.m. June 27 and 11 a.m. June 28, police said, adding that a garage door key remote, various tools and an emergency roadside kit were taken, police said.

Theft ... A car parked in the 200 block of Leverington Street was entered between 8 a.m. June 27 and 1 p.m. June 28, police said, adding that $8 was taken from the vehicle and the left front tire was cut. 

Theft ... Three cell phones, worth a total of $1,400 were stolen from T-Mobile, 6024 Ridge Avenue, at 12 p.m. June 29, police said. According to reports, a man came in and started asking an employee of the store questions but then began taking items from the display and fled the store.

Theft ... Two bikes, worth an estimated $240 total, were stolen from the porch of a home in the 200 block of Rochelle Avenue between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. June 29, police said.

Theft ... Two duffel bags containing clothes, jewelry and other items were stolen from an unlocked car parked in the 500 block of Leverington Avenue around 6:30 p.m. June 27, police said.

Aggravated assault ... A resident of the 7900 block of Henry Avenue contacted police June 29 at 1 a.m. following an arguement with her live-in boyfriend. Accoring to the complaintant, her boyfriend pushed her into a coffee table and caused her to break her wrist. She was treated at Chestnut Hill Hospital, police added.
