Thefts Dominate This Week's Reports

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th district police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft ... A car parked on Gates Street was entered between 10 a.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at 12 a.m., police said, adding that owner says the vehicle may have been left unlocked.

Theft ... On Sept. 5 at 1:20 p.m. it was reported that a black man believed to be between 26 and 30 years old wearing black pants and a white T-shirt, stole $275 worth of baby formula from Shop Rite, 6901 Ridge Avenue, police said, adding that he fled the scene in a dark colored vehicle.

Theft ... A car parked in the 200 block of Leverington Avenue was entered between 10:30 p.m. Sept. 4 and 5 p.m. Sept. 5, police said, adding that driver's side window had been smashed with a rock and a navigation system and Ipod Nano wer taken.

Aggravated assault ... On Sept. 4 at 2 a.m. it was reported that a man was punched in the jaw in the 4100 block of Main Street after getting into a verbal altercation at Mad River, police said, adding that he was taken to Bryn Mawr Hospital and needed staples in his head. He will also require surgery for a broken jaw, police added.

Theft ... Between 6 p.m. Sept. 5 and 8 a.m. Sept. 6, a car parked in the 200 block of Leverington Avenue was entered, police said, adding that the left front window was smashed and $10 in change was taken from the car.

Theft ... A car, valued at $2,000, was stolen from the 100 block of Markle Street between Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. and Sept. 7 at 5:45 p.m., police said.

Theft ... On Sept. 7 at 8 a.m. it was reported that a license plate was stolen from a car parked in the 400 block of Paoli Avenue, police said.

Theft ... A car, worth approximately $12,000, was stolen from the 3500 block of Retta Street between 6 p.m. Sept. 7 and 9 a.m. Sept. 8, police said, adding that a navigation system and yoga mat were in the car.

Theft ... A car parked in the 500 block of Conarroe Street was entered between 10 p.m. Sept. 7 and 9:30 a.m. Sept. 8, police said, adding that an Ipod and an overnight bag containing clothes and medication were stolen.

Theft ... Approximately 80 to 100 feet of black electrical wire was stolen from the 200 block of Shawmont Avenue between 8 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. Sept. 8, police said.

Theft ... A $40 shirt was stolen from TAG Denim, 4358 Main Street, Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m., police said.

Theft ... A resident of the Venice Lofts, 4601 Flat Rock Road, contacted police Sept. 6 after discovering that a Tiffany watch and pen, worth $4,825, had been stolen from his apartment while he was evacuated due to Hurricane Irene, police said.

Theft ... On Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m., a white female attempted to steal $75 worth of items from Shop Rite, 6901 Ridge Avenue, police said, adding that officers were called and the woman paid for the items and was released.

Theft ... Two cars parked in the 7500 block of Forbidden Drive were  entered Sept. 11 between 2:45 and 4:58 p.m., police said, adding that a total of $2,500 worth of items were taken from the vehicles including a laptop, digital camera, purse and gameboy.
