Thefts Seem to be Most Prevalent Crime in 5th District

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th district police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft ... Between 9 and 11 p.m. June 20, a bike, worth $189, was stolen from a fenced in yard in the 500 block of Gerhard Street, police said. 

Theft ... A car parked in the 100 block of Markle Street was entered between 12 and 6:30 a.m. June 20, police said, adding that although nothing appeared to be missing the contents in the car had been moved around. A bent screwdriver was found on the passenger seat, police said. 

Theft ... A $250 catalytic converter was stolen from a car parked in the 4900 block of Umbria Street June 20 between 9:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., police said.

Theft ... An employee of Bob's Diner, 6053 Ridge Avenue, contacted police June 21 after discovering that several window panes had been removed and a screen was pushed in, police said, adding that no entry was gained and it was believed to happen between 9:40 p.m. June 20 and 6:45 a.m. June 21. 

Theft ... Carlo Savini, 22, of Philadelphia was arrested June 21 at 10:43 p.m. after an officer saw him use a stick an attempt to break the driver's side window of a car parked in the 4500 block of Silverwood Street, police said.

Theft ... An employee of Berner Construction Inc., 700 Wises Mill Road, contacted police June 21 after discovering that the metal grates that cover the outlet structure at the site for water overflow were stolen between 2 p.m. June 20 and 6 a.m. June 21, police said, adding that the stolen item is worth $500. 

Theft ... The property manager for a property in the 6900 block of Valley Avenue contacted police June 22 after discovering that the back window of a unit was broken into and two flat screen televisions, an X-box, computer, DVD players and DVDs were missing, police said, adding that the tenant who lived in the unit had been evicted several days before.

Theft ... A resident of the 700 block of Hill Street contacted police June 21 at 7:30 a.m. to report that his vehicle had been entered and his registration and insurance cards had been stolen along with 15 compact discs, police said, adding that the owner of the car was unsure if it was locked.

Theft ... A window of a car parked in the 4000 block of Cresson Street was entered between 7 p.m. June 21 and 9:10 a.m. June 22, police said, adding that a navigation system and charger, Iphone charger and a computer bag containing a textbook were taken.

Theft ... The assistant manager of Acme, 5927 Ridge Avenue, contacted police June 23 at 8:40 a.m. after a man stole $110 worth of items and fled on the Route 9 bus, police said, adding that bus was stopped and the offender was arrested.

Attempted burglary ... A resident of the 6600 block of Ridge Avenue contacted police June 23 at 9:50 a.m. after he saw a man attempting to remove a side window air conditioner from a window in his apartment, police said. No entry was gained and the offender was taken into custody on the scene, police added. 

The offender had also just burglarized Damiens Beauty Salon at the front of the building, police added. 

Theft ... A car parked in the 7900 block of Ridge Avenue was entered between 8:30 p.m. June 21 and 3:30 a.m. June 22, police said, adding that a navigation system and $306 cash were taken. 

Theft ... The manager of Game Stop, 8501 Henry Avenue, contacted police June 20 at 3:49 p.m. after discovering that a man had stolen a video game from the store, police said. 

Burglary ... Between 6:45 a.m. June 21 and 7 p.m. June 25, a home in the 100 block of Kalos Street was entered an a television, purse and watch, totaling $680, were taken, police said.
