Three People Rescued from Flooded SEPTA Bus

The bus got stuck in several feet of water at the Route 61 bus turnaround area.

Three people were rescued Wednesday night from the roof of a SEPTA bus that became stranded flood waters on Flat Rock Road in Manayunk, several news outlets reported.

A SEPTA spokesman told Philly.com that around 10 p.m. the bus got stuck in several feet of water at the Route 61 bus turnaround area.

Two passengers and the driver were stranded, Philly.com reported. NBC10 said the two passengers climbed onto the roof of the bus waiting for help.

“They had to resort to getting on top of the bus to escape the flood waters,” NBC10 reported. They were trapped for an hour and a half and eventually rescued by boat.

All three people were taken to Roxborough Memorial Hospital, Philly.com reported. SEPTA told Philly.com the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
