Two Police Officers Assaulted in Dollar-Store Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Roxborough woman assaulted two officers and scratched a third while police attempted to arrest her for shoplifting April 17, according to the police report.

Police said they arrested Cindy Pierson, from Roxborough, for retail theft at Royal Bargain Dollar Store, 6174 Ridge Ave. at 6 p.m. An employee told police Pierson attempted to leave the shop without paying for a T-shirt, bracelet and pack of underwear.

Officers arrived on scene and, according to police records, Pierson attacked them.

Police said Pierson twisted and yanked away from one officer, causing pain to the officer's arm, hand, shoulder and ankle. Pierson also bleed on the officer's open wound.

Pierson allegedly also kicked another officer in the leg and groin area, police said. A third officer was scratched.

The two officers were treated at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. Police transported Pierson to the Northwest Detective Division for processing.

Golf Mats Stolen

Umbria Lane Golf Course told police someone stole Astroturf golf mats at the driving range.

An employee told police he saw two men stealing five or six mats from the 7200 Umbria St. complex. The men took the mats, threw them in the back of a red Ford pickup truck and drove off northbound on Umbria Street, according to the police report.

The employee could not provide a more detailed description of the males.

Two Trucks Taken from Repo Man

Police said two trucks were reported missing by East Coast Recovery, 4522 Baker St. April 16.

The owner, a repossession agent, holds nine transferable vehicle tags. He parked a blue 2003 Ford F-450 and white 2007 Mitsubishi FE140 at the facility April 13 and both were gone Monday morning.

With multiple tags, he wasn't sure which ones were on the vehicles at the time. The owner told police numerous people have access to the vehicles' keys.
