Two Unrelated Shoplifting Arrests Reported in Roxborough

The following arrest information was supplied by the 5th District of the Philadelphia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

made two arrests for shoplifting in Roxborough within hours of each other April 3.

Two of three reported shoplifters were arrested at 3 p.m. from the Andorra Kohls on Henry Avenue for allegedly stealing Nike sneakers, police said. Store security told police three men attempted to conceal the shoes under their clothing and leave the store.

When the security guard approached them, they fled. One man was immediately arrested. Another man hopped on a SEPTA bus and was apprehended at Ridge and Shawmont Avenues. The third man eluded police.

The two arrested men were transported to the Northwest Detective Division.

Later that day, police arrested a man for retail theft at the Ridge Avenue ShopRite. The store manager witnessed the man take assorted merchandise without paying for it, and leave in a silver Honda.

He reported the incident and tag number to police, who later apprehended the man on the 4700 block of Smick Street. The manager positively identified the man to police.

Philadelphia Police did not release the names of the men arrested.

Terrace Street Burglary

A resident from the 3900 block of Terrace Street reported $4,200 worth of valuables were taken April 8.

The man told police between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m., someone entered his home and left with a white Mac laptop, Xbox 360, and gold ring with diamonds in an "S" shape.

Police found no signs of forced entry, and the resident said the kitchen window was unlocked. However, several fingerprints were lifted from the scene, including some on the window.

Three Cars Stolen

Philadelphia Police responded to three car thefts between April 2 and April 8:

  • 2005 blue Land Rover Freelander from 7700 Matthias St., on April 2, overnight.
  • 1991 black Nissan Pathfinder from 4200 Cresson St., on April 4, overnight.
  • 2005 red Ford Focus from Pep Boys 9100 Ridge Ave., on April 6, 24-hour period.
