Whitpain Police Reports: Blue Bell Man Steals $70 in Groceries from Giant

Police incident reports from Whitpain Township Police department.

Retail Theft - On Dec 12th at 3:52 pm, police were called to the Giant Food Store, 1760 Dekalb Pk where Gary P. Lightman, 57 yrs old of the 100 block of Inverness Dr was detained for attempting to steal $69.85 worth of groceries. An off duty police officer observed Mr Lightman push a cart containing groceries to his car and did not pay for any of the items. Mr Lightman was arrested for Retail Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. He was arraigned by District Justice Nesbitt and released on $5,000/unsecured bail.

DUI - On Dec 15th at 3:03 am, an officer followed a dark Volkswagen west on Skippack Pk and paced the vehicle driving at excessive speeds. The officer stopped the car in the area of Fieldcrest Dr and it was apparent that the driver, Ryan Rodriguez, 22 yrs old of the unit block of Branch Ave in Telford was intoxicated. He was taken to Mercy Suburban for blood and charges including DUI and traffic violations will be filed when blood results are received.

DUI - On Dec 13th at 12:16 am police responded to a two car accident on Skippack Pk in the area of Wentz Rd where a silver Toyota struck the rear of a silver Nissan. As police investigated the accident it was apparent that the diver of the striking vehicle, Philip Kim, 33 yrs old of the 300 block of Dundee Dr was intoxicated. He was taken to Mercy Suburban for blood but refused the test. He is being charged with DUI and Careless Driving.

Disorderly Conduct - On Dec 12th at 8:38 am, an officer stopped a white Acura on Dekalb Pk near Skippack Pk for a vehicle violation. As the officer spoke to the driver, Ryan Henry, 25 yrs old of the 100 block of Prospect Ave in Norristown, he noticed the odor of marijuana. The officer recovered a small amount of marijuana and cited Mr Henry for Disorderly Conduct.

Disorderly Conduct - On Dec 12th at 11:20 am, an officer stopped a black Cadillac in the area of Railroad Ave and Mt Pleasant Ave for a vehicle violation. During the stop the officer located drug paraphernalia in the car and Brandon Gunn, 20 yrs old of the 1000 block of Trewellyn Ave in Penllyn was arrested for Disorderly Conduct for possession of paraphernalia.

Disorderly Conduct - On Dec 15th at 11:52 pm, an officer noticed a suspicious black Mazda in the parking lot of Reed’s Country Store, 923 Dekalb Pk. During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver, Chad Aschmann, 20 yrs old of the unit block of Ashwood Ln in Plymouth Twp, was in possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He was cited for Disorderly Conduct and released.

They gotta do something about the status of the economy. Even folks living in the Country Club are starting to steal things. Maybe they should lower their association fees?
