Woman, 74, Struck and Killed By SUV in Andorra

The pedestrian attempted to cross Ridge Avenue when she was hit by the car.

While attempting to across Ridge Avenue in Andorra Wednesday afternoon, an elderly woman was struck and killed by a motorist, said.

At 4:25 p.m. a 74-year-old woman tried to cross the 8900 block of Ridge Avenue near Old Line Road, according to spokesperson Officer Tanya Little, adding she was not in the crosswalk.

A blue 2011 Nissan Murano traveling northbound struck the woman. Police said the female driver remained at the scene after hitting the woman.

The woman was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center with severe chest trauma. She was pronounced dead at 5:17 p.m.

Police could not release her name as of Thursday morning.

Little said the incident was under investigation, and could not say if an arrest or citation would occur.
