A Guide to What You Need to Know on Primary Day

Who's running and more.

This year's primary feels like a bit of a sideshow, with Mitt Romney now the clear favorite to take the Republican nomination for president.

But there are still a number of key races Tuesday that will have an effect on Mt. Airy residents. State Reps. Rosita Youngblood is being challenged in their bids for re-election, and fellow state Rep. John Myers isn't seeking office again in 2012, which means he will be replaced in Harrisburg by one of three people vying for his seat. (State Rep. Cherelle Parker, meanwhile, was initially being challenged, but her opponent, Bobbie Curry, was recently removed from the ballot. You can see that here.)

There are several other statewide competitions going on, and there will be races between delegates looking to attend the Democratic and Republican National Conventions over the summer.

Democrats are having their own primary, while Republicans are having theirs. That means you can't vote in both races—you'll vote for candidates in the party in which you're registered.

Here's a breakdown of who's running (information courtesy Committee of Seventy; you can find a full breakdown on this election's procedures on its website). Incumbents' names are italicized:
