Attorney General Seeks Reversal in Rep. Parker's Drunken-Driving Case

The reversal stems from Parker and Judge Charles Hayden's Facebook friendship.

A motion filed by the state's Attorney General's office Monday, stated that the Facebook friendship between State Rep. Cherelle Parker, D-200, and Municipal Judge Charles Hayden "creates an appearance of impropriety and undermines public confidence in the judiciary," an article on Philly.com stated.

The Facebook friendship came to light shortly after Hayden's decision to suppress all evidence in the drunken-driving case against Parker.

Parker's attorney, Joseph Kelly, maintain that the two do not know each other. "They're not out having drinks together," he said in the article. "It's social media. . . . They're elected officials. It's common."

The motion, the Philly.com article continued, also noted that a Magisterial District Judge in Cumberland County recused himself from a case in October when his Facebook friendship with the defendant became public.
