Civic Does Not Oppose Home Division

The Manayunk Neighborhood Council votes to not oppose a plan that would divide a a single-family home into apartments.

The Manayunk Neighborhood Council made a vote of  “No Opposition” to a proposal at 114 Ripka St. that would turn a single-family home into three apartments.

The three-story home was originally a corner store with the store and living quarters on the first floor and second floors and an apartment on the third floor.

Developers want to turn each floor into a single-bedroom apartment that would rent from $800-1200 per month.

If all goes according to plan, the construction on the first apartment would be completed in July with the other two being completed in August and September.

The neighborhood council passed the “no opposition” resolution with an added measure that asks the developer to include three of the six garages on the property as parking for each of the unit.

Residents would have the option of renting a second garage, and unrented garages would then be made available to the public at large.

The neighborhood council also asked that two street trees be added to the front of the property as part of its zoning application.

The plan also calls for second and third-floor decks to be added to the property, but the developer claims that nothing will protrude over the street or out of the property.
