Community Looking to Increase Activity at Pretzel Park

Residents and members of the MNA discussed brining more activities to Pretzel Park at a recent meeting.

If Ann Tetreault, owner of on Cotton Street, has her way, there will be a number of community-centered activities coming to as early as this summer.

Some ideas she presented to the members of the Manayunk Neighborhood Council earlier this month included music, yard sales, lattern readings in the park.

If all goes well, Tetreault said she hopes to see the events expanded to include the Manayunk Canal.

"It's a holistic vision," she said. "We really want the community to buy into this."

Residents and members of the association were enthusiastic about the idea and according to member David Bass, the under-utlization of Pretzel Park is already on his radar.

Bass is planning an orchestra concert at the park in July and hopes a grant will come through to allow him to create more of a festival atmosphere during the event and include vendors and other activities.
