Congressman, Civic to Try and Save Bike Race

The Manayunk Development Corporation and Congressman Bob Brady are holding a meeting with city officials Friday.

The Manayunk Bike Race might not be dead yet.

According to a release from the Manayunk Development Corporation, the group has partnered with Congressman Bob Brady to meet with race officials and try to "save the bike race."

""We at MDC greatly appreciate Congressman Brady's offer of help," executive director Jane Lipton said in a release.. "The Congressman understands the value of civic institutions like the bike race and has a well-earned reputation as someone who can bring all sides together and find a resolution. We're hopeful that the 2013 bike race can be saved."

Brady and Lipton will meet with race and city officials Friday, Jan 25 "at a site to be determined" to discuss options and possibilities around "salvaging … a Philadelphia institution for the past 28 years," the release states.

We'll keep an eye on this and let you know what happens Friday.
