Councilman Jones Hosts Obama Debate Watch Party

Catch the debate at Zesty's in Manayunk.

President Barack Obama goes toe-to-toe with Gov. Mitt Romney Wednesday night in the first of four official presidential debates. Catch all the action in Manayunk at a group watch party hosted by .

The councilman invites residents out to Zesty's at 4382 Main St. in Manayunk. The event is free and open to the public starting at 8 p.m.

Jones announced the watch party on his Twitter feed, saying, "Come out for a spirited debate and discussion with your neighbors and leaders in the 4th District."

The debate itself starts at 9 p.m. and takes place at the University of Denver in Colorado. Like all of the Romney-Obama and Paul Ryan-Joe Biden debates, it is organized by the Commission on Presidential Debates

The president and former Massachusetts governor will tackle domestic policy in the 90-minute debate moderated by Jim Lehrer, host of NewsHour on PBS.

According to PresidentialElectionNews.com, Lehrer will lead six, 15-minute segments on different topics. Each candidate will respond to the initial question and Lehrer will asks follow-ups from there.

Subsequent debates are scheduled for Oct. 11 (vice presidential), Oct. 16 and Oct. 22—all at 9 p.m.
