Cresson Street in East Falls to Close Until January

Cresson Street in East Falls will close on Monday and remain closed until January 2014.

Starting Monday, the Philadelphia Streets Department will close Cresson Street in East Falls until January 2014.

The street will close to accommodate reconstruction of 250 feet of retaining wall support between Calumet and New Queen Streets.

The $1.2million project is being funded by the city and SEPTA, and it will also include reconstruction of the roadway, curb and sidewalk, as well as installation of a new barrier and fencing.

The street will be closed to traffic except for local traffic.  Detours will be posted, and street parking will be restricted.

Editor's Note: A previous version of this story said that Cresson Street would close in Manayunk.  It will not close in Manayunk.  It will only close in East Falls.
