DUI Charges Reinstated for Rep. Parker

Inquirer reports that lower court judge should have recused himself from trial.

Following was connected on Facebook with the judge who dropped her DUI charges, another judge reinstated evidence, according to a tweet by Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Joseph A. Slobodzian. 

The Democrat, who represents the 200th district that includes parts of Andorra, Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy, was arrested May 1 for reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol in Germantown.

In November, Judge Charles Hayden Parker due to conflicting testimony from arresting officers. However, the State's Attorney General Office later appealed the ruling when it discovered Hayden and Parker were Facebook friends.

Deputy Attorney General John Flannery appealed to the Court of Common Pleas, and Judge Paula Patrick agreed. 

According to Slobodzian's tweet: "Philly Judge Paula Patrick reinstates DUI charges against state Rep. Cherelle Parker, says lower court judge should have recused himself."

The state attorney general's office was not immediately available for comment on a new trial.
